After weeks of photo posts, it’s about time for an update on the actual happenings around here. I haven’t had much time for blogging, instead preferring to be on Twitter for various reasons. I have a blog project in the works, however, and will be back here in a different way soon enough. More on this later.
ANYWAY. A quick recap of happenings before moving on to new business.
1. My Father
First and foremost, my dad is OKAY. Which is BANANAS. Apparently, only about 10% of people survive what happened to him and HE DID. He is healing up nicely, but feeling pretty tired overall which can sometimes happen when you lose 2/3 of your blood. We had taken the boys to see him in the hospital, and for a while HGB would talk about how Poppy had to sleep at the doctor’s. I am beyond thrilled that he can see his Poppy recovering and sitting on the floor to play Legos with him. One cool thing about all this is that my dad and I talk every day now, and I really like that. Mum and Dad have been down to the house to visit twice now, which is a lot easier now that we are out of the city. Also, there is somewhere to park.
2. New House
We live in the NEW HOUSE Y’ALL. It is awesome. It felt like home the first night. Sure, it is 1987 up in here (kitchen excepted, thank GAWD). Will post some interior pictures soon. I only have a cell phone camera though, so before/after pics of various rooms will reflect the terrible lighting we have (read: NO overhead lights anywhere). I am currently working on our powder room, which was painted by a blind person who ran the roller over the lint trap first. It has taken about 20 hours of prep work so far. I KNOW. Thrilling DIY home improvement posts to follow. Probably a lot of them.
3. HGB + MJB
Starting to feel like an actual human being again. A routine is falling into place and we are slowly reaching our new normal. I only know 3 people in town, and need to make an effort to see them. Time FLIES by lately. I have also signed up for a yoga program at the library, hoping to meet like-minded folks and also do cheap yoga. It starts tonight! We have signed the kids up for Ladies&Babies&Thangz or whatever you want to call them. Additionally, the people next to us sold their house (yes, the people with the daycare…SOB. They are SO NICE too. Double SOB.) and a couple with a 15-month old are moving in. Hopefully we don’t have radically different parenting styles and both enjoy beer.
And there is a skim of the surface of our summer. As I mentioned, going forward I’ll be talking more about household type things, in addition to stuff with the boys, and other things such as my thoughts and feelings. A post about this move forward to come shortly.
Blah blah blah, it’s fall! I love sweaters and loathe pumpkin spice. And raking – I love raking.
